How did you start in the jewelry business? Is it something you always loved?
Meghan: When I was younger I had a huge bead collection and loved making all sorts of pieces for my friends and family. Every family vacation it was my goal to find a bead store in that location and make my entire family go bead shopping. Not much has changed : )
A few years ago, I saw a necklace that I loved and wanted to buy but decided I'd make it myself and that's when my love for beads started up again.
What is something that has surprised you about your life? Did anything turn out differently, good or bad, than you thought it would?
Meghan: That's an interesting questions. I always knew I wanted a family and to grow that family in Sonoma. I never would have thought that I'd be designing jewelry! I've been so lucky in life and the older I get the more I realize that.
What does faith mean to you and what role does it play in your life?
Meghan: My parents raised my sisters and I to be open minded to all faiths and religions although they were raised Catholic. They wanted us to be able to choose what Faith/Religion to practice. As I've gotten older and now have my own children I practice the same values and talk to them about all Faith's and Religions.
It's comforting for me to know that there is something greater out there and there's a purpose for us all on this Earth.
Have you ever made a mistake in your business or personal life and what did you learn from it?
Meghan: I'm making mistakes daily and learning from them! This is my first time running my own business and I'm learning on the fly! It's fun and adventurous, sometimes nerve racking but I'm doing what I love and that makes it all worth it.
What is your favorite piece of jewelry that you make?
Meghan: This is a hard question because I honestly love them all! I work from home and am a Mom of 2 boys so I tend to wear simple pieces on a daily basis but any chance I get to dress up you'll see me wearing multiple layers of jewelry! The bigger the better!
What is the biggest challenge you face balancing your life and running your own business?
Meghan: I have a difficult time saying no because I love what I do. Work life balance is one of my goals for this year.
What has been the best most rewarding part of Meghan Bo Designs, for you?
Meghan: The most rewarding part has been all of the support I've gotten. It really amazes me the support from all of my family, friends, new friends, acquaintances etc. I still have to pinch myself from time to time and just ask myself, "Is this really happening?"
